November Remember

Apologies to the legions of PP$ fans all over the globe who've had to go without my regular bad beat whinges. Whilst the blog may have fallen behind, the jotting down of results through a hazy drunken blur onto scraps of paper continued and this blog shall not only update, but also correct an earlier error (middle game from the last post was a repeat from 11th May result).

Since the last online update, I have some truly amazing news. On the evening of the 7th September, your humble narrator assuaged a smidgeon of the pain of 'The Winless Years' with a victory which brought little enjoyment, but at least some relief from some of the joke ejections I've had to suffer for longer than I'm able to remember. There was also a rare victory for veteran PP$ wooden spooner The Bottleneck. Elsewhere Petawatt has finished 2nd twice. Third time lucky?

Below are all the results from the 8 games played SINCE 22nd June's post (therefore, completely ignore the results in the 15th August post).

Results of last 3 Games & Overall Table

3 more games, 3 more bad beats for The Gent
As I've fallen behind with posting results and reports, this post will provide an all-encompassing round up before normal service resumes (hopefully) after the next game this coming Saturday.

Unfortunately due to the passage of time, specific details of the games are too hazy to record, so I'll stick to sharing with the reader my own typically ludicrous bad beat ejections in this by now tiresome run of rotten poker fortune.

3rd last game - My pocket 7's were trumped by Wee Rambo's mighty 9-5 suited. Silly old me!!!
2nd last game - My AJ is no match for GingaRadge's QJ. What on earth was I thinking???
Last game - My Q9 suited got stung by a 7-2 off suit. The GingerRat striking again. Beggars belief.

Please can someone work out how I cannot win when going into a hand ahead, over and over again. The amount of times I'm beaten by worse cards simply isn't fair. Needless to say, the likelihood of me winning a hand from behind, when I can't win from ahead, is completely non existent.

Last 3 results:
1) Oui Rambo. 2) GingerRadge. 3) Dr Doctor. 4) Killawatt. 5) The Gent. 6) Petawarrior. 7) Robberneck.

1) DirtyGingerRat. 2) Wee Rambo. 3) The Gent. 4) L.He.Is. 5) Petawatt. 6) Sea Cock. 7) Dunderfuncle. 8) Killawatt.

1) Bottleneck (not a typo). 2) Sea Cockles. 3) Petawatt. 4) Killawatt. 5) GingaRat. 6) The Gentleman. 7) Wattinlaw (poker name pending). 8) Weewee Rambo. 9) Android.

Championship Table (NB: there is a statistical anomaly that I'll sort out in due course - extra last place)

Saturday 3rd December 2011

Venue - Rare Books Arena

Winner - GingaStinga
2nd - Bottleneck
3rd - The Raiser
4th - Megawatt
5th - Killawatt
6th - The Doctor
7th - Wee Rambo
Wooden Spoon - Liam

Apologies: Da Blouse (Still M.I.A.), The Damage (Stateside), The Professor (In the Lab?), Milroy (another hot date?).

Connoisseurs of Texas Hold'em were in a state of shock on Sunday morning when they woke up to the earth shattering news that Poker Behemoth, Killawatt, had trickled out of the game in only 5th place. Whilst his form x luck combo has been something of a cause for disgust amongst his fellow players this year, even He couldn't make a 2-3 suited into a winning hand in a 3-way battle (although he did make 4 cards of a straight flush before the river). Bottleneck (A-7) & The Raiser (K-J) were also in the hunt but the appearance of an A slid the pot in the direction of the host in a hand that effectively also sank The Raiser.

Between the exits of Killawatt & The Raiser, Megawatt took a right rear end invasion when he was raised all in blind by a resurgent GingaStinga who filled a Full Hoose, dumped the poor tripped up Megawatt out of the game and then of course apologised.

Earlier, Liam the Newbie had began well, getting involved and getting uninvolved at precocious moments. But one wrong move in this company can prove fatal and an escalation of pressure at an opportune moment accounted for his chips when The Raiser sniffed a chance.

Wee Rambo, who once upon a time looked like a contender before his form nosedived only just avoided the wooden spoon. It was one of those desperate nights where shi'ite cards took the blame, the Granny was still on when Liam crashed out and when the Granny was finally vanquished, it was via a split pot with a profit of 20 whole chips. Violins featured in the background as hand-after-hand he wailed about the 7-2 he'd folded that would have made a Full Hoose etc, but there is always next time.

6th might not please many people, but for the reigning champion it ranks as a bit of an improvement after recent showings and if The Doctor can finish tucked in behind Killawatt on a more frequent basis he might be able to refind the form that took him all the way to the Championship in 2010.

Last word is saved for Placings 1 & 2. While the Bottleneck still searches for the elusive Endgame, his Beginning and Middle are putting him in the right place more and more. It can only be a matter of time until he gets quite lucky to go with the quite good.

The pocketer of the £40 was the possessor of an impressive game seemingly refound after a few years of suicidal raisings and reraisings. From around half way through the match, his style and chips grew in strength allowing little room for middling play around the table on the way to securing a second victory of the year. Is it a blip, or a sign of things to come???

Saturday 19th November 2011

Venue - Kev's Colossuem

Winner - Killawatt
2nd - Megawatt
3rd - The Raiser
4th - Nico
5th - The Doctor
Wooden Spoon - Bottleneck

Apologies: Ginga Radge (Pyjama Party), The Damage (Continentally Challenged), Da Blouse (M.I.A.), Milroy (Hot Date), The Professor (Fed up losing Fivers?), Wee Rambo (Bad Attitude).

Bottleneck produced a willing fivergiver in the form of Nico, an apparent newcomer to the Great Game. With a Hand Ranking scrawled upon a post-it and the usual impeccable standard of advice from various regulars in either fluent French (The Doctor/Bottleneck) or remedially slow and over-pronounced English (The Raiser/Killawatt), the newbie quickly acclimatised establishing a very conservative game.

Bottleneck fell first straight after the munchy break, continuing his gentlemanly insistence on allowing others to win. The Doctor was next to hit the baize chin-first after an earlier previous attempt to go all-in and crash out (against Megawatt's 9-9-9-9) which was scuppered when the latter mis-bet in a four of a kind panic.

Our nouveau French friend rolled over in 4th place, it goes without saying that it's a great result in our shark pit. By this time Megawatt had built up a bit of a chip lead, Killawatt had fluctuated a bit without being able to assert his championship authority, although it was around now The Raiser's chip stack began to build with a rough chip share of 50%-25%-25% (Raiser-Watt-Watt).

The Raiser shall now indulge himself!!!

Killawatt, after expertly managing to put down Q-10 with a 10-4-4 flop v The Raiser earlier (who held and raised A-10), a pot re-raise by The Raiser allowed him to re-raise with A-K, all-in for about 3,800. The Raiser could cover it and keep 300 in defeat or put out The Unputoutable One!!! The Raiser called with 10-10 dreading that the Killa had a higher pair, instead, it was a 'Classic Texas Hold 'em Coin Flip'. The Unputoutable One suddenly doubled up, The Raiser left clinging onto 3x100 chips.

Next hand The Raiser was BB, which was 600, so all-in again. This time a 3-4 off suit which 'held up', doubling up His Grumpiness to BB level.

Next hand The Dealer deals The Raiser 9-9 and he's all-in, third hand in a row. Megawatt raises all-in with gash (might have had an A) and Killawatt calls with a feckin 10-10 (see 2 hands ago), which feckin holds up. And that was that!!!
