Results of last 3 Games & Overall Table

3 more games, 3 more bad beats for The Gent
As I've fallen behind with posting results and reports, this post will provide an all-encompassing round up before normal service resumes (hopefully) after the next game this coming Saturday.

Unfortunately due to the passage of time, specific details of the games are too hazy to record, so I'll stick to sharing with the reader my own typically ludicrous bad beat ejections in this by now tiresome run of rotten poker fortune.

3rd last game - My pocket 7's were trumped by Wee Rambo's mighty 9-5 suited. Silly old me!!!
2nd last game - My AJ is no match for GingaRadge's QJ. What on earth was I thinking???
Last game - My Q9 suited got stung by a 7-2 off suit. The GingerRat striking again. Beggars belief.

Please can someone work out how I cannot win when going into a hand ahead, over and over again. The amount of times I'm beaten by worse cards simply isn't fair. Needless to say, the likelihood of me winning a hand from behind, when I can't win from ahead, is completely non existent.

Last 3 results:
1) Oui Rambo. 2) GingerRadge. 3) Dr Doctor. 4) Killawatt. 5) The Gent. 6) Petawarrior. 7) Robberneck.

1) DirtyGingerRat. 2) Wee Rambo. 3) The Gent. 4) L.He.Is. 5) Petawatt. 6) Sea Cock. 7) Dunderfuncle. 8) Killawatt.

1) Bottleneck (not a typo). 2) Sea Cockles. 3) Petawatt. 4) Killawatt. 5) GingaRat. 6) The Gentleman. 7) Wattinlaw (poker name pending). 8) Weewee Rambo. 9) Android.

Saturday 23rd March - Result & Report

What I'm now up against
Decisions, decisions, whether to keep this weeks bad beat whinge for later or just get it out the way now? I've given it three days to cool off, but to little effect. So why not get the greetin over with!!!

The Worlds Crappest Ever Poker Player (that's me folks, statistically it's undeniable) was first out in a hail of bullets. Playing the top end poker that's gotten me nowhere for so long, I shunned all middling and worse hands, as the clever advice advises. The first hand I opted to play, I was last to act on the big blind, everyone folded bar one raiser. With a J-9 I decided to have a wee look. After the flop, I've got top pair and an overcard. Only one thing to do in that situation, raise. My foe, fellow wooden spoon contender Petawatt, showed no sign of backing down though, chucking a re-raise at me. So I fold about 300 or so skinter after being re-raised, declaring he had a higher pocket pair than my 9's. In a gentlemanly fashion, he showed AA. Winning the hand seems to be enough for the Petawatt, no requirement for trash-talkin and besmirching his clan's good name.

Ach well, at least that meant I wouldn't have to worry about coming up against A's for a while. The chances of playing just two hands and finding you're up against AA would be way beyond statistical sense. If that came to be, maybe God does exist after all, maybe I will win the lottery and maybe I am actually the greatest poker hotshot ever born!!!

If I had a gun...
A while later I'm dealt a spade flush draw on the flop. I've got the Q. The K comes on the turn giving me a K-hi flush (AND now a straight flush draw too). To get to the point of finding out my adversary most likely has the A with a re-raise to his raise, I'm down from 1600ish to 300 or so chips. Against Sea Cock, who had thought Q-7 pre-flop was a good hand after being pot-raised, when I put him out in the previous game, despite being out of position and pot-raised by me at every opportunity, I had to weigh up if his blatant 'I've got the A' behaviour was real or fake. I decided by now I'd gone too far and had to see. He slowly turned over a red A first, absolutely no need to put me out of my misery, then the A of spades.

Two hands, up against two pairs of bullets, both times the bullets held up against me and both times I hit cards to wade into deep trouble with.

The Doctor earlier insisted that paying cash to get shafted for years is an enjoyable way to spend an evening. This was met with some ire. Now, when every hand I'm up against is AA, well I'm at a loss as to what to do next. Fortunately there were witnesses to see these bullets, otherwise I'd be quite sure I was actually just going mad, which, all considered, would be preferable to this run of form/luck.

All I can see these days, am I going mad???
But later, once The Doctor had won the whole game (with a Q-8), and declaring it was all down to being lucky, I was even more delighted than a delighted fiver-donater could ever be thought to be. When is the next game, I simply cannot wait!!!

A good while after my exit, well after the munchy break - hardly worth pointing out there wasn't another pair of Aces dealt all night - The Bonfire found himself trapped in a cul-de-sac of pain he had no intention of entering in the first place. With a 7-4 in the hand and a 7-4 on the flop he pushed all-in and heard the dreaded words from Petawatt "ahhh, I have to, just to see". The Bonfire's fate was sealed, the 2 on the flop was matched on the turn making Petawatt's pocket 9's into a better two pair than Bonfires 7-7-4-4.

Bottleneck, making his first appearance since the recent sprog-thunk, left the game in 6th after a bit of to-ing and fro-ing with Killawatt. First he went all-in with KK v A-6 and it held up. Next he was all-in with A-6 v QQ, but couldn't find another A and exited in 6th.

Captain Birdseye, my 'Nemesis of the Week' ran aground soon after. His AQ v The Dr's AK suited was beasted when The Dr made his flush. He was then sunk for good by Petawatt when his Q-5 took on the latters J-10. Whilst Sea Cock hit a 5, the Fur Warrior hit a J and the field had been halved.

Reigning champion and one-move master tactician, Prince of Gingia felt the full force of poker's fickle hand of bad luck next. Charging into battle, as he is prone, with 5-5, he was met by the Gynaecologist brandishing KQ. When another slutty little Q appeared, The Prince was oot.

Some wag called the three remaining players - Killa, Doc & Petawatt - "two patsies and a behemoth". It wasn't long before the first Watt-off. Killa held K-2 and the Peta had J-8. Lacking in chips the latter pushed all his hopes into the pot, nothing came for either and we were down to the last two players. Blog rules dictate I must mention that this is Petawatt's modus operandi, top half finish, bleed out before the finale. I wish I was that good.

The Doctor now had some ground to make up. Forced all in with a J-7, he found Killa with 10-7 and held up to double up. Back in the match!!! Soon the medic's QQ held up v Killa's K-9, doubling up again. Not long after the Doctor's sublime skill was to the fore once more as his J-5 beat Killa's (blind all-in) Q-6. A staggering coming from behind with the aid of another pesky 5. With the Killa bleeding badly from all these cuts, the end arrived when his Q-4 took it royally up the garbage shoot from Dino the Vino's Q-8. The Doctor was the winner allowing a final "I'm f%&£+@ loving this" exclamation from my good self.

2012 Championship Game - Pre Match Hype

More final table heartache for the GingaStinga???
OMG - It's only the 2012 Championship decider!!!

As is customary, the last game of the season is the first game of the subsequent calendar year. 2012 is yet to be decided.

Saturday 5th January
at
C&FW Services Colosseum.

Once again our sponsor is generously providing prizes. As in previous years, these will go to the 2nd & 3rd placed positions in the Showcase Game with first place snaffling the cash as is Written in the Great PP$ Book of Unwritten Rules!!! I'm sad to report that yet again we've been shunned by every single television broadcaster so the world will miss out on our particular brand of tasty caird action.

The current table is coming up, then some comment on what's at stake for the movers and shakers. I've also especially added the total points range/swing each player can achieve giving an idea how far up/down the placings each player can rise/fall.

Max - Assumes a win added to present totals
Min - Assumes a last place added to present totals

                                               P     W     2nd     L     Pts     Ave          (Max/Min)
Gingle Berries                        14     4       3       3     152     10.857     (11.467/10.133)
The Gynaecologist                 13     3       4       1     162     12.462     (13.000/11.571)
Killawatt                                 14     3       0       0     162     11.571     (12.133/10.800)
Sea Cock                                 8     2       0       0      83     10.375     (11.444/9.222)
Wee Rambo                           12     1       2       0     133     11.083     (11.769/10.230)
Bottleneck                              13     1       1       6       70      5.385     (6.429/5.000)
Petawatt                                 15     0       2       0     153     10.200     (10.813/9.563)
The One True Gentleman       14     0       2       2     116     8.286     (9.067/7.733)

The Former Blouse                   7     1       1       2      56     8.000     (9.500/7.000)
The Baptist                                3     0       0       2       8      2.667     (7.000/2.000)

Or will the GingaRadge be laughing all the way to the engravers?
16 games have been played this season making the golden HalfPlusOne mark 9, therefore Dunderfunk is just squeezed out of qualification for the overall final table.

Petawatt will have played the most games in 2012.

Bottleneck has had a disaster, but the one win means he cannot finish last. The Gentleman must win to avoid the wooden spoon, it's between him and Petawatt and he can't catch the latter on points swing alone.

If The Gentleman does win, GingaRadge would win the trophy, which would obviously also be the case if GingaRadge wins on the night.

There are two other players in contention, serial champion Killawatt or one time winner The Doctor. If either of them win on the night, they'll walk away with our spangly monument to poker greatness. Not literally of course because they'll both be kipping in the venue that night. Gingle Berries requires a win by anyone EXCEPT that gruesome twosome on January 5th to lift The Trophy.

Should Dr Gynaecologist win the match and therefore the championship, it will be a phenomenal three year run. Champion in 2010, wooden spoon in 2011, can he go from hero to zero to hero again this season? Nicknames involving yo-yo's are massing on my horizon.

With a combined appearances total of 27, 2012 has basically been owned by The Doctor and GingaPrince who have been heads up or better 14 times between them. Killawatt has only made the last two on three occasions, but has somehow done enough to stay right in contention as we reach the season decider.

Wee Rambo has struggled to turn his good showings into hard championship contending stats but will surely be quite happy with his first full season in our exalted company.

Without looking back on previous seasons, I suspect this is Sea Cock's best ever finish, a win could even propel him higher up the final table. At this stage the blog must retract it's previous aspersions on his good name (they already have been in person, but the internet must also be told). He was a no-show at the last game through no fault of his own, but because the Colosseum staff overlooked his invite. Would never have happened in the Albion Road days.

So, the wooden spoon and trophy are undecided and the excitement levels could hardly be higher.

Formerly The Damage, now it's Fiscal Cliff
Hopefully our honorary member, the stateside President Cliff Fiscal will be able to drop in during the munchie break for a chat. I'm sure he sends his best wishes.

All the best from your humble scribe too. Remember your shirts!!! See you there.

PS: There appears to be a statistical inaccuracy in the table. The last place finishes column totals 16 when only 15 games have been played. Please check your results and let me know who I've added the extra ignominious marker to!!!

Up To Date Table

Half way through the year, half way through the season, has to be said, still anyone's championship. Half plus one is currently 5 games and shall remain so after next week (21st July @ Kev's Colosseum).

A machine for zapping Watts!!!!

                         P     W     2nd     L     Pts     Ave
Killawatt           7       2       0       0      92     13.14
GingaStinga     8        2       2       2      88     11.00
The Doctor       6       1       2        0      75     12.50
Wee Rambo     6       1        1      0       51      8.50
Bottleneck        7       1        0      3       45      6.43
Petawatt           8       0       1       0       87     10.88
The Raiser        8       0        2      1       74      9.25

Sea Cock         3       1        0       0      27      9.00
Dundertrump    4       0        0       2      17      4.25

Some stunning stats. Dunderfunk must decide if it's actually worthwhile qualifying with half + 1 this year. Could be a worst of all time. Conversely, The 2010 Champion has finished top 2 in half his games. One to watch. As has the GingaPrincess who is a model of consistency with form comparable to a monthly grenade blast!!! She (surely he) must look back on that defeat by Ol' Sea Cock with regret, it would have put her (him) into a very strong position. And as usual its the Colosseum owner who continues to ride his decade long wave of luck up the top.

PP$ Plunged Into Disrepute

After reading this article by Nick Robinson on the BBC website

Cash for Cameron: Murdoch's Glee
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-17510020

I was appalled to come across comment number 8.

I can only imagine what sort of filth the former cross-dresser (blouse wearer - fact) was spouting. In future I would urge PP$'rs to abuse the anonymity of t'internet and refrain from appending their full name. Why not go the whole hog and stick your email and phone number down next time Mr D???

Despicable.

Bawbag at the Town Hall on Friday
All hail the Bottleneck. The 'Barren Decades' are over. Some said he didn't have an Endgame. Others said he lacked the Bottle. Yet more doubted his Desire. But all those voices were silenced at Kev's Colosseum on Saturday as Bobby Bawbag trumped all present with a winning performance right out of the second top drawer.

1. Bottleneck
2. GingaStinga
3. Petawatt
4. Aces Picasso
5. Killawatt
6. Wee Rambo
7. The Raiser

Apologies: DaBlouse (painting), The Doctor (attending to Dutch royalty), The Professor (in a huff after suggestion of up front payments was made to ensure better attendance), Sea Cock (pedicure), Ricketts (rickets).

First to exit within an hour was your grumpy scribe. Somehow, most probably due to abused substances, I didn't spot the second of the two nuances to GingaStinga's game. Move 1: no nuts, pot raise. Move 2: got nuts, slow play then pot re-raise. My J-10 flush on the flop including the A on the board looked better in the hand than it was in reality. It was being slow-played to the max, little did I know there was an even dirtier slow player in our midst. Calls from the floor relating to felines about the mass of check-check-checking may have compounded matters. Still, against a K or Q + a lower club would have been perfectly acceptable. GingaStinga having both K&Q was very bad manners. I duly flounced off into the corner to queue stuff on Spadify.

This allowed Wee Rambo to move up into 2nd last place. The puir wee scone thought he'd made it to the Munchy Break by going out the hand before the Munchy Break. By this logic, I made the Munchy Break too by going out 25 hands before the Munchy Break. Still, he's relatively new to the ways of the PP$ force. The Doctor still doesn't have a clue what's going on after about 15 years of playing and Petawatt is still unsure how to raise properly so there's still plenty time to pick up the finer nuances.

After initial signs that his boringly effective form was returning, Killawatt began to lose some chippage, with one biggie going Bottleneck's way, ultimately leaving Killa hovering around a grand and at his all-in/double-up stage. Using his ethereal skills he managed to get all in with 5-5 v GingaStinga's 4-4. Heads in hands for everyone except the Auburn-tinged one when a 4 arrived and Poker Behemoth was oot.

Leonardo Dunderfunk who wasn't in attendance was next to perish at the hands of GingaPotRaisa. With about three seasons of bad luck still due after his many years of being a lucky bar steward, Constable Andrews managed to get into a double up situ ahead, but GingaStinga hit an A on the river to shoot the non-present Aces Duncbucket out of the game.

Then there were three. PP$'s very own Pistorius, Mr Petawatt, sporting yet another new arm since he realised it gets you out of shuffling, dealing and construction duties stuck to his patented online tournament gameplan by hanging around until an all-in was forced upon him, doubling up on that all-in, then bleeding out soon after (see last game report and probably next game report too).  But that's what will happen if you slowplay AA in a 3-way situation as he dangerously and disastrously did. The golden PP$ rule - Winner Takes All - is supposed to deter people from this sort of hypnagogic play, but Petawatt, just like Cameron & Lansley, shall not waver from pursuing a defunct policy despite every man and their dog telling them otherwise. This allowed GingaAllInna to add a K8 to his hole K8 and suddenly Bottleneck was in a heads up scenario against a GingaAllInna who just could not stop putting folk out.

First hand of heads-up followed the Gings Plan A, going pot raise/all-in etc but he took a right chipsmashing as Bottleneck's pair held up against AK. Undeterred, GingaAllInna piled what he had left in again on the next hand. Bottleneck called and this time came from behind with a QJ against A-10 to truly StingaGinga and walk off with 35 of the queens spondoolicks. In reality, these last hands played themselves but Rob had to be quick as his lift had started the engine before he could pocket the pennies.

Later in the week I'll update the Championship Table. In other news, it looks like there is a decent chance of a City Game at The Doctors Surgery next Saturday. Keep an eye on your email for details.  Respeck!!!
